On Monday morning, I popped into Brooklyn’s Borough Hall to vote. I went right after dropping my kids off at school, and it took about three minutes. I ran into several people I knew, and we all grimaced and laughed with each other, the way you do when you’re voting to try to stop a fascist from becoming president again. It really shouldn’t be hard! And yet here we are.
According to my stats, there are readers from all 50 states who subscribe to this newsletter. So, my friends in PA, in WI, in MI, in AZ, in GA, in all the swing states, please get out there and vote! Please please please please vote.
I would love to add something cute but honestly I am so filled with fear and anxiety that I have very little cute to report. I’ve scheduled myself for several scary-but-routine medical appointments next week, which is hilarious, even to me. What a thing to do!
The only other thing I have to tell you is that we made candles at the bookstore. There is one that is called ‘Books’ and one that is called ‘Magic’ and right now we have 500 of them and I really hope people buy them because they were expensive and they take up a lot of room and I don’t know if anyone needs a candle, but we need to sell these babies, and so please, if you want to spend a little of your pre-election anxiety on something that both smells good and helps me alleviate some of my anxiety, please, have at it.
Fingers and toes and eyes crossed for you, Kamala! I’ll just be in a little ball on the floor if anyone needs me.
Over here in Texas, where I early voted last week, and hoping it counts, at least for Colin Allred, I've been frantically doing deep cleans. My fridge is ready for you all to inspect, as is my oven. Onward!
Pennsylvania here! I voted early over a week ago! With you on the "ball of anxiety" thing.
