This just reignited my purest dream which is to be Harry Styles' mother. His actual mother seems lovely, but I know this is a job I, too, would really excel at!
Hah! I have Streep’s recording of Ann Patchett‘s Tom Lake as *my* comfort listen! (I skip the psychiatric-ward part because too sad.) The way she say NOTHING!, channeling a hormonal, rageful teenager has to be heard to be believed. Oh, I love that recording - and the book.
I got most of the way through this with not Nancy Meyers, but Nancy Travis (from So I Married An Axe Murderer - also amazing) in my mind before thinking I should confirm that with Google, as doubts that she could be both an actor and equally outstanding director began to gnaw... so now I'm in my own parallel universe of Nancys, which is also a delight. So thanks!
Emma dear I met Nora Ephron’s real son, the lovely and talented Jacob Bernstein, when he interviewed me for the Times a decade ago. You may have seen his splendid documentary on her, Everything Is Copy.
This is the best sort of fantasy to indulge in! Sentimental Garbage (podcast) recently did an episode on Hairspray, which I think you’d love. Can’t wait to read your novel about REDACTED. ⭐️
This feels like a safe space to admit I thought the artist Lorde was Madonna’s daughter for mannnnny years 😆

Meryl Streep reading Heartburn is possibly my favorite thing ever--comforting, acerbic, a little unhinged. I have it on repeat as comfort listening.

As a big fan of your work, I have to say, this is maybe my favorite 😂

I sure did! ❤️
Thank you for writing this perfect piece of Zac / Nora crossover ❤️
I really want to say thank you to Taylor Swift’s mum for her daughter helping my daughter so much and giving her such joy and strength!
I recall when Nora’s I Feel Bad About My Neck came out and I remember thinking, huh, what’s that about. Now I know.
Too busy google stalking Zac Efron to comment here.
OMG, I have to admit that I actually thought they were related too. Because I never even paid attention to the spelling of his name! Doh!
And to echo others, I cannot wait for the new book!!
Here I am, a fellow lover of REDACTED, dying to hear more about when the new book is coming out! ;)
Yes! I’m almost through your backlist and we have four years of stuff ahead of us. Please write fast.
I love it!
Also gonna need to know which thrift store!
Emma, you are a true delight

Not really on topic, but just to add, Zac Efron's brother is a delight on Traitors. What a thoroughly nice boy - Mummy Efron must be so proud :)
